Werner Nekes - A Magical Cosmos of Images - Prospective Archaeology of Cinema

Biography

Prof. Dr. Siegfried Zielinski is one of the pioneers in the field of Archaeology of Media. He is Professor Emeritus of Media Theory with a focus on Variantology of the Arts & Media at the Berlin University of the Arts and holds the Michel Foucault Professorship for Media Archaeology & Techno-Aesthetics at the European Graduate School in Saas Fee. In Berlin, he managed the International Vilém Flusser Archive until 2016. Zielinski was the founding rector and first rector of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (1994-2000) and rector of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (2016-2018). He is a member of the Akademie der Künste Berlin and the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts. His texts on the archaeology and variantology of the arts and media have been translated into many languages.

Together with Peter Weibel, Zielinski curated and realized several extensive thought exhibitions such as " Allah's Automaten " (2015) or " Dia-Logos - Ramon Llull and the Ars Combinatoria " (2018). With FM Einheit he is working on a new acoustic format for ›Akustik- und Denk-Dinge‹ on Teodor Currentzis' MusicAeterna platform in St. Petersburg. (Translation TWS)
