Ivo Gilbert, born in 1959. After studying sports science and history, followed by a degree in social sciences, I was self-employed in music retail for 33 years. I decided to retire early in 2020 to focuse on creative projects. I started collecting magic lanterns and other optical toys in 1979. For about 20 years the focus of my collection has been on German peep-box sheets from the 18th and 19th centuries. I got to know and appreciate Werner Nekes as a collector friend and mentor in the 1980s. He broadened my horizon regarding optical media many times over. (Translation TWS)
